Police are on the quest for a vehicle driver after a pet was killed in a hit-and-run.

The dog’s owner and also young grandson are believed to have actually observed the collision.

“Police are looking for any person who may have any type of details relating to the make or model of this black coloured automobile or that could have experienced this event taking place.

Posting an appeal on social media, the owner said her family are ” devastated” and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

She believed the vehicle to be a black 4×4 Volvo.

A statement from Police Scotland read: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have any information regarding a hit and run road traffic collision which occurred at about  at Forfar Loch.

“Police are looking for anyone who may have any information regarding the make or model of this black coloured vehicle or who may have witnessed this incident taking place.

“If you do have any information please contact police using the 101 number and quote CR/29003/17. “
